Gear: I currently have three really great sounding basses and a not so great upright of unknown manufacture. The good ones are a Lakland 5 string, which sounds wonderful live and huge when recorded. I have a nicely used Precision, which has a sweet growly sound and also records very well. My newest baby is the Dean Pace Electric upright which sounds absolutely fabulous on jazz gigs, big and bouncy without the feedback and consistency issues of a real upright.
Resume: I was a Music graduate of UW many moons ago, and have played in and around Madison for some time, after doing a lot of road work. I became something of a replacement specialist, replacing such well known bassists as Joe Osborn, Lee Sklar, Glenn Worf, Bob Babbitt, Ray Brown, Bob Wray and others, either as a touring player or a direct replacement when these great players moved on to other projects. Since settling in Madison again I have worked with tons of local artists including Tracy Jane Comer, Clyde Stubblefield, Cliff Frederiksen, Jan Wheaton, Michael BB, Kelly and Doc Dehaven, Kristi B, Wildheart, Michelle DuVall and Doug Brown, Harmonious Wail, Bob Ramsdell, Ken Wheaton, Al Chase, Mike Dowling, Michelle Saywer, Joe Scalissi, Elwood Lee, Marci and the Highlights, and even the Dick Jurgens orchestra. (My Dad was so proud)! I play 3 or 4 nights per week with a variety of artists, and I record whenever I can. I am always looking for work, as I love to play!
Styles: Jazz, Funk, Pop, Country, Rock, Contemporary Christian, Latin, Reggae, Swing. I Love To Play!
